There's nothing like the real thing, baby!

There's nothing like the real thing, baby!

Why do we think we have to put on airs for others? It becomes such a chore to always be worrying about what we look like, how we're acting in front on certain people, stressing over what kind of car we drive, what street we live on, etc. JUST BE YOURSELF!!!! There's nothing like the real thing, baby, as the song goes, and it's sooooo true! We each have qualities that are unique and awesome, and people will love us just for being "us" if we give it a chance. No pretences, no falseness......just our plain selves is the most beautiful of all!

NOTE: Thanks so much for your many visits, kind comments, and invites. Your friendship continues to be a blessing in my life each and every day!

watercolour baby bird

watercolour baby bird

Not only is this little bird out on a limb, but this was also way out on a limb for me- first time in 25 years I have done a watercolour.
This was from my photo of a baby(?) bird taken by accident when I was photographing some bohemian waxwings. This bird was all black except for the 3 prominent white marks around the eye. Due to my lack of drawing skill the head is a tad bigger than it was in real life! I can't find out what type of bird it is. Any suggestions? The white markings are very much like a robin's, but the bird does not look like a robin at all...

Baby shower!!!!! [307/365]

Baby shower!!!!! [307/365]

+1

I can not BELIEVE that today I went to my first baby shower ever, and it was for one of my closest friends, Allison. :)
I've known Allison since grade 7, and we became very close, very quickly. We were best friends. The summer after that year in school she sleptover almost every single day (I think Paula wanted to kill me, hahah. I pretty much stole her best friend, and I think she was mad about it. hhahaha, but we're best kind now! Love you Paula!! hahahah). Then at the end of summer she had to leave. She moved up to Ontario. She lived up there from grade 8 - grade 10, and then she came back to grade 11 here in Newfoundland. We then became very close, very quickly again. It's not like the friendship left or anything anyways, she visited a lot during march break, christmas, and summer, so I seen her a lot in between these big gaps.
Then Allison came home in March to visit (of this year, 2010) and she told me that she was pregnant! It was such a shocker, so crazy to hear that one of my closest friends is pregnant. I obviously accepted it, and I got very excited! I meaaan maternity shoots, baby shoots!! Ahh that's so exciting! She then went home again to go to Prom and stuff and now she's down again for a summer visit... So what I'm trying to say is I've known that there's a baby inside of Allison's belly pretty much as long as she has, but not until today, not until the day of her baby shower has it really all sunk in. Like, one of my closest friends is going to have a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's so exciting. I can't wait until we have a sleepover, because apparently the baby starts to kick in the night time and I want to feel!!! ^__^
ALLISON I KNOW YOU'RE READING THIS I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE THE MATERNITY SHOOT AND TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOU AND YOUR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) ...*cough* I'm not insane. I promise. :D

anyways,
Allison is going to such a good mother, and her little boy is going to be the cutest. ♥
This is going to be like, the biggest thing I look forward to when I come home during Christmas from Calgary to visit Newfoundland... seeing Allison and her little baby boy. : )

also got a visit from Steve tonight, that was nice!
and Krystal's going home tomorrow, wtf! :O
